Getting points in Major Mayhem can be tricky when you begin the game. It takes practice and time investment to earn high scores. In this guide, I will share some ways to rack up the points in mission mode to collet three medals.
How Score Is Determined
Score is determined by three factors: multipliers, damage, and bulk scores. Bulk scores are earned by rescuing hostages, killing red ninjas, destroying enemy jets and tanks. The majority of your score is calculated by your combo, which is the product of total damage and multiplier. When hit or killing a hostage, your combo is calculated, adding the number to your score, and then combo is set to zero. To earn high scores, and three medals per missions, it is priority number one not to get hit and not kill hostages.
What Is Multiplier And Damage?
The orange number is the damage, and the tea, number is the multiplier. Doing damage with your weapon and air strikes — not with exploding barrels — will increase the damage number. This is the most effective way to improve your score. Holding your finger on the screen will continue damaging a baddie, even if they are already dead. This will also complete the ‘Shoot Them Full Of Bullets’ challenge, which cannot be completed with the pistol. Some weapons do more damage than others.
Multipliers are earned by performing feats, such as deflecting bullets, rapidly killing enemies, knocking of baddie’s hats, etc. I have listed as many as the multipliers as I could find, and described them. Multipliers are important to earn high scores; more important than rescuing hostages, and causing mayhem, but less important than damage. Shooting for multipliers can be dangerous in later missions.
Combo Multipliers
• Head Shot Streak +2
Continuously killing baddies via head shots. Ends when a baddie dies by other cause.
• Rapid Kill +1
Killing baddie quickly, one after the other. Hold finger on screen with automatic weapon.
• Close Shave + 1
Dodging a red projectile when close to hitting you.
• Chain Kill + 3
Killing three or more baddies in a row, while holding finger down.
• Deflect Bullet + 2
Shooting a bullet to prevent it from hitting you.
• Hat Hit + 1
Shoot baddies’s hats off before killing them.
• Over Kill
Exceeding 10 damage on a baddie. Easily attainable via Chicken Gun.
• Quick Draw + 5
Killing an enemy as they are targeting you with red projectile.
• Power Shot + 5
High damage combo.
• Ultra Shot + 10
High damage combo.
• Double Kill + 5
Killing two or more enemies at the same time. Explosives do the trick.
• Chicken Combo + 2
Killing a chicken.
• 2 Piece Chicken Pack + 5
Killing two chickens at the same time.
Bonus Points
• Can Opener + 1000
Earned by destroying an enemy tank.
• Mayhem + 500 or 1000
Earn 500 for destroying jets, 1000 for killing red ninjas
• Rescue + 500
Earned for rescuing hostages and your girlfriend at the end of the game.
How Weapons Effect Combos
Each weapon has a different damage, attack rate, and the expensive weapons can shoot through walls and baddies, allowing double kills.

• Uzi, 1 Damage, Attack Rate fast
• P99, 1 Damage, Attack Rate very fast
• Shotgun, 2 – 10 Damage, Attack Rate slow
• Automatic Shotgun, 2 – 10 Damage, Attack Rate medium
• Assault Rifle, 2 Damage, Attack Rate fast
• Minigun, 2 Damage, Attack Rate very fast
• Plasma Rifle, 2 Damage, Attack Rate insanely fast
• Sniper Rifle, 2 Damage, Attack Rate slow, accurate
• Magnum, 2 Damage, Attack Rate medium, shoots through objects
• Automatic Sniper, 2 Damage, Attack Rate fast, accurate, shoots through objects
• Light Machine Gun, 2 Damage, Attack Rate Fast, shoots through objects
• Bazooka, 10 Damage, Attack Rate insanely slow, area damage
• Nade Launcher, 20 Damage, Attack Rate insanely slow, area damage
• Quadra Bazooka, 20 Damage, Attack Rate fast, area damage
• Auto Launcher, 20 Damage, Attack Rate fast, area damage, faster than other explosives
• Chicken Launcher, 20 Damage, Attack Rate medium, area damage, accurate
*Use common sense for the size of clips in weapons
The Best Weapons
The best weapons are the expensive weapons, but it is hard to claim which weapon deserves the iron throne. In the final boss fight, I found the Chicken Launcher to not be as useful as the Light Machine Gun and Auto Launcher. However, in mission mode the Chicken Launcher earned me easy high scores due to its accuracy. I found the Magnum to be great for quick kills in arcade. The plasma rifle is one of the best guns due to its insane attack rate.
Accurate weapons like the sniper rifles and the magnum are important to consider for increasing the multiplier. Using a sniper rifle means you’re more likely to hit red ninjas and jets, knock off hats, and deflect bullets. But it can be more difficult to raise your damage combo.
I personally think the Light Machine Gun is the best weapon because it combines the attack rate, large clip size, and damage. Can easily raise damage combo over 200 to complete challenge and rack up high points.

The machine gun is good for its fast attack and shoot through walls. It makes taking out jets easier. Try the Automatic Launcher to rack up multiplier
I highly recommend u the quadzoooooka. I guarantee u a higher point. Just aim n spam the ground or wall. Everything dies. But there is slight disadvantage in long range enemies. That’s all. I normally switch to light machine gun for long range enemies n encountering jets or bosses. So far my damage can go to near 800. That’s without the multiplier. So my overall score was 130k+. That’s the highest I ever got.

I am also having trouble getting high scores when going back through.
My problem is that I no longer am getting the bonus multipliers for quick kills, headshot streaks and chain kills. This started happening after about the 5th mission in the metropolis (I think the name is right, the second level)
This is weird, i figured it was some glitch that just happened so i uninstalled and started again. I was getting these combo points i mentioned until a certain point, about the same place.
I was playing on my tablet, so i decided to try my phone. I had the exact same thing happen.
Any idea why i completely stop getting these combos? Now when i play, i can go through entire levels without getting shot or killing hostage, keep the damage from calculating and resetting in the middle of the phases, and still struggle to get higher than like x10 (all from hat hits and close shaves and the occasional deflection)
This is really frustrating because i love the game but I cant get 2 medals anymore, let alone 3.
I have gotten 3 medals on the first 7 stages before this thing started happening so I know how the score works. I feel like there was some hidden setting that i hit to not include these multipliers

What weapon are you using?
I’m experiencing the same thing. First tropics classic is fine with pistol, but once I started using the shotgun and even the quaddra bazooka on any level/stage, the combos disappear. Phone is updated and the only way to fix this is to immediately restart the game.
I am experiencing the same problems. That’s why I came on this site. I’m not getting any multipliers, and therefore, no points. It stinks.
Some people, in the comments, have listed a solution to your problem. Have to close the app completely, then open it again and the problem fixes.

I’m having the same issue as AndyH… Stopped getting combo bonuses for head shot streaks, and power shots, quick draws, and chains. I haven’t tried un installing and reinstalling yet. Be sure I’ve been using the light mg.

Well initially i used the pistol and things were good, then i switched to shotgun and things were good. Then while still using the shotgun several levels later the bug happened.
I know for certain I didnt change guns between the levels that were working and the one that didnt. I dont think anything else changed.
My first thought was maybe it happened when I quit the game and came back but the 3rd time I tried this I played straight through till i got the problem

I too had that problem. I’ve been using the plasma rifle and it happened twice. You DO NOT need to uninstall the game though. Simply shut down and restart the app and it will work again. You can either completely power down the device or on some of them hold down the app until the screen shakes and hit the minus. It’s a strange glitch but you dont have to start all over because of it!

For the bug just close the game. Make sure the app is fully closed. When you restart the game the combos will be back

i experienced the combo glitch a few times playing on my galaxy sII, it was also fixed by simply quitting the game, (hit back button on the home screen so the game asks if you are sure you want to quit, hit yes to ensure game app fully closes)then reopen, this works for me everytime

Yeah, you just let that mummy that shoots the two green bullets at once to walk up and touch you. It does hurt you though, obviously.
In level 11 in desert…let the mummy come kill you and you get that one
once you see one of the mummies, dont shoot it and just let it touch/grab you. should do the trick

Also, using the super ammo power up will help rake in those extra dmg points needed for those annoying missions where you almost just make the 3 medals (ie. for me it was the desert level mission 4). I combined the super ammo with the plasma gun. And it increases your normal combo by at least 2-3 times. Just another nifty technique you can use when fustration kicks in.

How do you get the achievement for shooting through objects? I have used the sniper rifle and magnum and shot through every object I can think of and I don’t get credit for killing people while shooting through objects. Any ideas why this is not working?
It was a glitch. I closed the app completely and opened it back up and I shot through objects and now I am getting credit.

The more times you shoot a bad guy the higher your multiple will be. Keep firing long after a baddy is dead and you’ll see your score climb. Your combo runs out after a short while without killing anything. Using hero time extends the length of your combo. Using a powerful weapon with a lot of amo (less reloads, I prefer the plasma rifle) and using hero time to extend your combo between sets of bad guys it’s possible to get very high scores. I’m not claiming to be a master but I got over 50,000 mayhem in a level by using this technique.
I’m liking the plasma rifle the more I use it, myself. I still think I like the light machine hub more because it can shoot through objects whereas the plasma rifle can’t. But my mind may change soon…
How did you get the 50,000 mayhem points? Which mission? What weapon(s)? What strategy?
The best strategy I can suggest, if you’re having a tough time, is to use a power-up, especially if you can’t afford the plasma rifle. Using the bullet power-up and any fast weapon, such as an Uzi or assault rifle, you can reach 50 000 points easy.
My best score is 177.000 and i did it on metropolis level 11 and you just have to make a very big combo using the chikens between fights with bad guys and i used the plasma gun with the robo outfit a couple of times and let the bad guys hit you while you wear it so it counts for the combo keep the combo alive the entire level and you’ll be surprise at the end

I think Metro level7 is the best for high score, I got up to about 150k on this one. Make sure you kill the chickens while running between action spots otherwise your combo will finish before you start the next action sequence. The quadzooka is really good because it’ll do heaps of damage to each baddie, get good multiple kill multipliers (like +10 for triple kill or +25 for a quad kill). Also it’s impossible to kill the hostages with it, so you can’t break the combo that way.
Level 2-13 – highest 300k with quadzooka, routinely above 200k. Just try to combo as much as possible.

I solved this objective with timbomb mode . You wont find them every time but that s how i solved it.
What is considered a power weapon? My fave is the plasma rifle for all around use (high scores and such) but now after getting 3 medals on all 45 stages I’m going thru to complete all achievements. I’m on kill 100 enemies with power weapon. Thanks!

Its definitely one of the early desert missions. Use the grenade launcher it has a big blast radius and will hit them all of u place it in the middle

For three medals quadzooka is the go-to gun for most levels although in a few you need the light machine gun or plasma rifle.

The four piece achievement can reached on Metropolis lvl 13 at the beginning. If you’re at 95% for call out king you’ll get that too from getting the chickens.

If you are using power-ups, pretty much any level in metropolis you can earn as high as a 1000 damage combo

hi, any of you guys had the problem that in level 15 in the desert , when you destroy the boss weapons major mayhem gets stuck and the game does nothing doesn’t walk or run just stays there without doing nothing, ?… i don’t know if its an app error or what???

That is very strange… Uhm. Major Mayhem does save your account. Go to the armory, then to get coins. Scroll to the bottom and hit restore. This may work, but I don’t know for sure
Hello i have a problem. I play major mayhem since 2 weeks now and it´s really a very funny game. today i went trough some levels and then during the loading of the next level the game crashed and i had to restart my mobile phone.

Major Mayhem is known to be very glitchy. If the game is crashing, close it completely and start it again. This fixes most issues for people

Complete objectives to earn some more coins so you can buy a better weapon than the pistol
The sniper rifle is unfortunately not very good against mummies. (I think this is justified – in movies, zombies and mummies are typically very tough and usually killed using explosives or huge numbers of bullets, not a single high-powered rifle shot.) The assault rifle and shotgun are both plenty good for killing mummies.
Auto sniper rifle is good for that if you are decent at dodging their return fire.
with explosive guns. keep shooting until kill the mummy.
You’re missing a few multiplier bonuses. Triple kill is +10, mega kill (4 kills at once) nets you +25. There are also many, many different bonuses for killing chickens in different numbers and using different weapons.
You’re missing some combo bonuses. Triple kill is +10, mega kill (4 kills) is +25, and there’s plenty of chicken ones as well, like fried chicken (+1 or +2 for exploding a chicken). Also, I suspect the rapid kill bonus is actually for killing an enemy soon after it appears, not soon after killing another.
I’m experiencing the combo glitch problem on my iPhone 4.
Tried closing off the app completely, it works initially, but the same problem keeps recurring.
Now I even have problem launching the app. It just stuck at the blue screen and fails to launch… Decided to reinstall the game, but still have the combo problem after metropolis stage. Hope someone can advise, thx
This is a common problem with no real solution as of yet. All we can hope for is that an update is released, addressing the bug.
Though I haven’t heard of the blue screen issue…
I’m theorizing that the issue has to do with iOS because not every use is experiencing this problem. I for one am not. There could be a corrupted file within the iOS causing the problem? Have you experienced similar bugs with other iOS games recently?
If I was experiencing the same problems as you, I would reset my own phone to factory defaults to test this theory — if any one is willing to do this, please comment with the results!

I have the same issue with the blue screen on start up. I just did the update but it didn’t help. I can’t load the app at all. So frustrated, I was up to about 140 of 150 mission objectives complete, and about half of the award/trophy ones as well… Don’t want to have to start again!
How do you complete the objective ‘Deflect 10 Jet Rockets’? I’ve somehow completed 30% of it but don’t know how I did it.
Seriously?? You just have to deflect 10 rockets that jets shoot at you. You do this by shooting at the red rockets as they are coming towards you…

Everything works fine except for being able to finish the final level! Shoot all the president’s flying tank turrents, Prez moves offscreen, then MM just stands there unable to do anything….

I think it is 15k+ to ace it, but even with Quarzooka, I can only get 12k on average because there’s only 1 red ninja + 3 swarm of enemies and 2 jets + 1 tank at the end of the level, which is too few to build up high points even with Quarzooka. >.<

Depends on the weapon @dada21 and random. Constantly shooting at the mummy as often and as fluently as possible with some of the more advanced guns usually will do the trick
